Love Kills

I jokingly asked my wife if I had done anything lately to make her angry. She had a puzzled look on her face and assured me that I hadn't done anything. Then, she asked me why I asked her such a question. I said, "No reason." Finally, I confessed the topic of this blog post...

This weekend, I got the disturbing news that one of my favorite boxers, Arturo Gatti, was found dead in his hotel room in Brazil. Now, it appears that his wife is the main suspect and it is said that she strangled him in his sleep.

The facts have not been made public yet. What is theorized is that, while he was on his second honeymoon with his wife, they apparently had some sort of fight and he knocked her to the ground. He was very drunk and she waited until he went to sleep... then (and may I say that all of this is pure conjecture right now), she strangled him with her purse strap.

Has it been two weeks since Steve McNair was slain by his mistress? He too is believed to have been slain while he was sleeping... shot once in the head and twice in the chest. The popular reason being that... not only was he not divorcing his wife, as he had lead his mistress to believe, but he was also seeing yet another young lady. And, this guy falls asleep in the room with a woman who has peeped his entire card like that?

Let this be a solemn warning to all wannabe womanizers and abusive men... Do not go to sleep in the same room with the woman you've knowingly wronged. You just might not wake up the next day. Go out to your car, lock the doors, and sleep. Better yet, just go. You'll thank me for this later!

  2. Love doesn't kill, women do. Whatever happened to hot grits or breaking out your windshield? Man, this one hurt me. Gatti was one of my favorites. He came through when the boys was boxing. He was a banger! Doesn't it seem like he was boxing for 100 years? He was only 35! He was so cool - didn't say much. I don't watch much news but this popped up on sports center. Have they said anything about the 10 hours before police arrived?

I hope they don't fall in threes! **looking around the room**

  4. Sad story for a boxing fan.
I think death will be taking a break now since we've had two sets of three. Gatti made people want to pull for him. I think he liked getting punched a couple of times to get him going. Done in by love.

  5. Now, I know that ya'll probably won't believe this but Gatti was my favorite as well. Yes, it's true! I couldn't believe it and still find it shocking. Love, wow...the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9

  7. Hey there!

Hell hath NO fury than a woman scorned... God said it and men have continued to dismiss the warning!!

    And...

May I also add that many African women understand how to grind up poisonous plants in various foods...

Men need to be worried about more than just falling asleep in the same house as a woman scorned...

    And...

Why can't they just do right and then they won't have to worry about retaliation?

  9. Keith, no offense, but sleeping in the car or getting out of harms way isn't going to get the "guy" off the hook. Honesty and a heart felt apology might work. But once the feelings, emotions and lies come to surface, it's pretty much over for him. You can only pray that she doesn't resort to drastic measures. But then again, the signs are never present on the first date are they?

My prayers are with both families. But sadly enough, they won't be the last victims of this kind of devestation.

  17. If guys didn't try to bed several women at a time, a lot of these incidents wouldn't occur.

  28. I've been trying to tell my boy this for months now and I think it's finally sinking in. I told him that the actions of the some of the women he's recently dealt with are questionable and came with glowing red flags. Men need to see past the p*ssy and stop thinking with their nether-head. Crazy is as crazy does and when women show you who they are; you better believe them.

It's sad that love gets such a bad name based on the actions of women/people who misuse and misunderstand it. As Carey said, "love doesn't kill, women do". True words right there.

love to live; live to love!
