Baltimore 2015

You had to know that this was going to happen sooner or later....That Collective Black Anger at all of these killings by police of unarmed black men across the nation was going to erupt into violence...You had to know it...It was inevitable...But that does not make it right!

While I understand the frustration and the root of the violence I can not condone it...Name me one time a riot ever changed something or brought about justice..It never has...

They are rioting and looting in Baltimore...All these riots in Baltimore are going to do is get more people killed and more people arrested...and SOLVE NOTHING! Praying for peace and calm in the streets of Baltimore!

Hundreds of rioters looted businesses and set buildings on fire in Baltimore on Monday in widespread violence that injured at least 15 police officers following the funeral of a 25-year-old black man who died after he was injured in police custody.

The disturbances broke out just a few blocks from the funeral of Freddie Gray and then spread through parts of Baltimore in the most violent U.S. demonstrations since looting in Ferguson, Missouri, last year.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard as firefighters battled blazes set by looters. Rioters with baseball bats smashed windows of cars in different areas of town.

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake called the rioters "thugs" and instituted a citywide curfew for all adults and minors beginning Tuesday night. The only exceptions are work and medical emergencies.
25 year old Freddie Gray's death on April 19 reignited a public outcry over police treatment of African Americans that flared last year after the killings of unarmed black men in Ferguson, New York City and elsewhere.

After more than an hour of mayhem, hundreds of police moved into glass-strewn streets where the worst of the violence had taken place and used pepper spray on rioters who had sacked check-cashing and liquor stores.

Police and news helicopters buzzed overhead and older community leaders tried to calm down mostly young rioters and prevent clashes with the police. Rioters cut a fire department hose while firefighters fought a fire at a CVS pharmacy looted earlier, the Baltimore Police said.

An Orioles baseball game was canceled and schools, businesses and train stations shut down in the city of 662,000 people 40 miles (64 km) from the nation's capital.

White people for the most part are calling the rioters "Animals and Thugs"like they always do and ignoring the root of the problem that is causing the the violence..The racial profiling and murder of unarmed black people by police and in some cases white citizens , who always use the excuse.."I was afraid for my life.."

Most decent Black people ,while angry over yet another killing of an unarmed and at this time un charged Black man...(He was arrested simply for spotting police and running..)are denouncing the violence and the looting .....They are condemning it for what it is...criminal behavior that has nothing to do with the protests.

If Both races could calm down and see each others point of view and look at this objectively...We might get somewhere.....but this is America and that's not going to happen...Everybody is going to look at this from the point of view of their tribe, their group...and nobody is going to talk to each other...Just scream and shout and hurl invectives...Just like they're doing now....The comments on Facebook and Twitter are full of such ignorance, such blind hatred ON BOTH SIDES..Black and White that I'm taking a break from social media tonight....I just can't..

I just keep asking...When will it all end...The killing of unarmed Black people by angry white males, both with a badge and a gun and without a badge...the total indifference by White Society in general...and the blame game and pointing of fingers of both sides?

When Will it end? More important....How will it end?

Weekend Humor

One day these two best friends Jay and Bob were walking down the forest when suddenly a giant snake jumped on Jay’s leg and bit his penis, since no one was around for miles Bob called a hospital and told the doctor

"Quick Quick I need your help my friend got bit by a snake on his penis"

The doctor told him ’’Son your gonna have to suck the venom out yourself’’

Bob asked " Please doctor there has to be another way to get rid of the venom"

The doctor says "Sorry there is nothing we can do"

So Bob goes running to his friend and when he gets there Jay says with pain

" So what did the doctor say?"

Bob says "Doctor said your gonna die. Jay."

Everybody have a super groovy weekend!

Maybe Black Lives Don't Matter

Maybe Black Lives don't matter....After Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and now Rekia Boyd in Chicago....I'm beginning to think that Black lives don't matter....Just what the hell is going on??

Incident after incident of some white person, usually a cop...but it doesn't have to be...shooting and killing an unarmed Black person and using the lame excuse...I was afraid for my life and getting away with it in the courts and in public opinion pages...

Yesterday in Chicago...Another miscarriage of justice...

A judge's surprise acquittal of an off-duty Chicago police officer in the shooting death of an unarmed woman called into question prosecutors' decision not to charge the man with murder, and set off protests outside the courthouse and near the site of the killing.

That the officer shot Rekia Boyd, 22, was never in dispute. But the judge said he was bound to find detective Dante Servin not guilty of involuntary manslaughter — because manslaughter requires evidence of "recklessness," while the judge described the act of shooting as "intentional."
"It is intentional and the crime, if any there be, is first-degree murder," Judge Dennis Porter said in his seven-page ruling.

Carrying signs saying "Black Lives Matter" and "Avenge Rekia," dozens of people rallied Monday night at a park on the city's West Side to protest the verdict hours earlier. Tying the slaying to other, more recent police shootings like the one last year in Ferguson, Missouri, protesters called on Chicago to "stand up."

"We've got to make it clear that we don't even care what the legal system said. The streets say, 'Guilty,'" said protester Jedidiah Brown. "The streets will not rest with this verdict the way it is."

Rekia Boyd was walking to a store with three friends in March 2012 when Servin, upset over noise, asked them to quiet down. Servin says he fired because he believed another person in the group was moving toward him with a gun, though police found only a cellphone.

Prosecutors say he fired five shots over his shoulder from inside his car at the group, who all had their backs to him in an alley. Boyd was struck in the head and one other person was grazed by a bullet.

The city settled a wrongful-death lawsuit with Boyd's family for $4.5 million in 2013. A few months later, the Cook County state's attorney's office charged Servin with involuntary manslaughter.

But after a four-day bench trial, Porter ruled that prosecutors failed to prove Servin acted recklessly, in the precise legal sense of the word. He said that Illinois courts have consistently held that the act of pointing a gun and firing is an intentional act, not a reckless one.
Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez disagreed and said in a statement that she was "extremely disappointed."

"The state's attorney's office brought charges in this case in good faith and only after a very careful legal analysis of the evidence as well as the specific circumstances of this crime," Alvarez said.
Boyd's brother, Martinez Sutton, erupted in anger inside the courtroom after hearing the verdict, shouting, "This (expletive) killed my sister."

Relatives of the slain woman chased after Servin and called him a murderer as a he left the courthouse under the escort of several supporters.

"With somebody laying in an alley with a bullet hole in her head, how is that not guilty?" asked Boyd's sister, Natasha Sutton.  If the judge doesn't beleive that shooting over your shoulder at a group of kids with their backs turned to you isn't recklessness...then I don't known what the definition of recklessness is..

Servin told reporters he had no regrets, though he said his "heart goes out to the family."
"Any police officer, especially, would have reacted in the exact same manner that I reacted, and I'm glad to be alive. I saved my life that night," Servin said.

If he believes that and if this is true...then there in lies the real problem.

In Love With Beef

One thing my grandparents taught me and that I carry with me to this day is that a family should never air it's dirty laundry out in public...In other words...Keep Family disputes in the house...and present a united front to the public...

Black Leaders, Black entertainers, Black women, Black men,Black Preachers, Athletes, Politicians, and what not have never learned to do that..We argue and beef with each other in public constantly....

As a race...we are in love with beef....It goes beyond Biggie and Tupac...It goes beyond Malcolm and Martin...It goes all the way back to Booker T. and W.E.D. Dubois...

Black people love beef..

The latest beef is between Dr. Cornel "Obama Hater" West and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson... As everyone has heard...They supposedly ended their  friendship yesterday...

The realization comes to Mike  Dyson that Cornel West is now a parody of the intellectual he once was, that his vicious and often personal attacks on President Barack Obama have come at a cost—the loss of his credibility.

And the loss of their 35-year friendship sadly...

For Georgetown professor Micheal Eric Dyson, Cornel West—once an emperor among his peers—no longer wears his scholarly clothes, but can still evoke the phrases and popularized passages that remind you of who he once was.

Micheal Eric Dyson writes of the Princeton scholar, “It is not only that West’s preoccupations with Obama’s perceived failures distracted him, though that is true; more accurate would be to say that the last several years revealed West’s paucity of serious and fresh intellectual work, a trend far longer in the making. West is still a Man of Ideas, but those ideas today are a vain and unimaginative repackaging of his earlier hits.”

Yes, Micheal Eric Dyson affirms in his piece that Cornel West is  indeed brilliant. Yes, Cornel West is smart. Yes, CornelWest is perhaps one of the premiere intellectuals on the intersection of race and philosophy of his time. But yes, Cornel West is mortal, passive-aggressive, jealous and petty.

Hey, Nobody is perfect.....I do at times myself wonder why Cornel West and my frat brother,Tavis Smiley have such a hair up their asses about President Obama..

After perceived slights and political missteps by President Barack Obama, scholar Cornel West has led an intractable one-man war against the president that has been punctuated by interracial invectives, according to Michael Eric Dyson, the Georgetown University professor who recounts the end of his bromance with his friend and mentor in a trenchant piece at the New Republic.

As a result, Cornel West’s fulminating rage against President Obama has hurled him from his once-vaunted position as one of the greatest intellectual thinkers and scholars of our time to a faded relic of himself, Dyson says, transforming him from knockout Mike Tyson into, well, biting Mike Tyson.

Professor Dyson says the end of his friendship with West “is the collateral damage of his war on Obama.”

And why is there such a war between these men?  You would think that these men could meet in some deli, go in the backroom and talk out their differences over a Corn beef sandwich, some chips and a cold glass of beer....White politicians in Philly have done that for years...Probably still doing it away from the public eyes...

But nooooooooooooooooo...Black celebrities, thinkers, politicians ,athletes, rappers and what have you have to have public spats....Beef instead of corn beef and cole slaw and chips and beer..

This entire thing is now fodder for social media like Facebook and Twiiter...What isn't now of days? and aired out in just about every media outlet I have gone on yesterday...

Everybody involved would do well to heed the advice my grandparents instilled in me many years ago.

Weekend Humor

A man and a woman meet in an elevator. "Where are you heading today?" the man asks.

"I'm going down to give blood." she says.

"How much do you get paid for giving blood?" he asks..

"About $20."she says.

"Wow," says the man, "I'm going up to donate sperm, and the sperm bank pays $100."

The woman angrily gets off the elevator.

The next day, the man and woman meet in the elevator again.

"Fancy meeting you again. Where you off to today?" he asks..

"Sperm bank,"
she says with her mouth full.

I'm Certain He Was Afraid For His Life

I am sooo sick of having to write this kind of story....Another Black man ,slain by a white police officer , or white male period who was quote unquote-AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE!

How come when all of these guys are afraid for their lives...A black man ends up losing his?

Yesterday this story was all over Facebook and Twitter-  A white South Carolina police officer was charged with murder on Tuesday after a newly surfaced video showed him fatally shooting an unarmed black man in the back as he ran away, The Post Courier reports.

The North Charleston officer, 33-year-old Michael T. Slager, maintains he feared for his life during the Saturday traffic stop in a statement released earlier this week by his attorney. According to the statement, Slager stopped Walter Scott’s Mercedes-Benz sedan after he noticed the 50-year-old had a broken brake light. During the encounter, Scott allegedly took the officer’s Taser and ran from him. That’s when Slager fired his gun eight times.

According to police reports, Slager utilized the Taser prior to the shooting, but it did not stop Scott. Slager can be heard on the police radio reporting the shooting.
Shots fired and the subject is down. He took my Taser,” Slager said according to police reports.

Video of the encounter, caught by an anonymous bystander, paints a different story, the New York Times writes:
The video begins in the vacant lot, apparently moments after Officer Slager fired his Taser. Wires, which carry the electrical current from the stun gun, appear to be extending from Mr. Scott’s body as the two men tussle and Mr. Scott turns to run.
Something — it is not clear whether it is the stun gun — is either tossed or knocked to the ground behind the two men and Officer Slager draws his gun, the video shows. When the officer fires, Mr. Scott appears to be 15 to 20 feet away and fleeing. He falls after the last of eight shots.
During a news conference Tuesday, Mayor Keith Summey said that Slager’s “bad decision” prompted his arrest.
“When you’re wrong, you’re wrong,” Summey said. “When you make a bad decision, don’t care if you’re behind the shield or a citizen on the street, you have to live with that decision.”
Slager’s attorney, David Aylor, announced Tuesday that he would not be representing the officer anymore.

Good and for once, the killer has been arrested and the victim not put on trial..

Weekend Humor

In a long line of people waiting for a bank teller, one guy suddenly started massaging the back of the person in front of him.

Surprised, the man in front turned and snarled, "Just what the hell are you doing?"

"Well," said the guy, "You see, I'm a massage therapist and I could see that you were tense, so I had to massage your back. Sometimes I just can't help practicing my art!"

"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!" the guy replied. "I work for the IRS. Do you see me screwing the guy in front of me?"

What I've Learned

1. My grandmother used to say...Keep Living and you'll learn a lot of things...

2.Find out what matters most and free yourself from the rest.

3.When Uncreative people tell creative people what they should write, what they should play or what they should draw and paint....It stops being art.

4.Luck is what happens at just the right time.

5.If You don't care about yourself...why should anyone else?

6.Everything Old becomes new again...and more expensive!

7. Even a broken clock is right at least two times a day.

8.Respect trumps hate on any day...

9.You shouldn’t try to stop something from happening. Sometimes you’re supposed to feel awkward. Sometimes you’re supposed to be vulnerable in front of people. Sometimes it’s necessary because it’s all part of you getting to the next part of yourself, the next day.

10. I'm 57 years and eight days old....I'm still learning and evolving.

PEACE!
