Boehner and the Republicans have been threatening to sue President Obama for the past few weeks now...In fact...I wrote about this a few weeks ago....They say he's an out of control tyrant....

This is laughable....but anyway...They have threatened this for weeks... So yesterday when Speaker John Boehner faced a put-up-or-shut-up challenge, he blew it....

Once again...Much ado about nothing...and I mean, really Nothing...

We and by we...I mean the American public, first learned about House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) plan to file yet another anti-Obama lawsuit on June 24, more than two full weeks ago.

 

Asked for an explanation, the Republican leader struggled, Cat had his tongue – John Boehner knew he wanted to sue the president, though he didn’t know why – which is no surprise...This was just political theater ,but the in the process, he gave his team all kinds of time to think of something....ANYTHING!!!

As the put-up-or-shut-up moment approached, the pressure was on the Speaker to follow through in a big way. Yesterday, Speaker, John Boehner blew it.

Speaker John Boehner has released a bill that would authorize him to sue the White House over its implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

“The current president believes he has the power to make his own laws – at times even boasting about it,” Boehner said in a statement Thursday. “He has said that if Congress won’t make the laws he wants, he’ll go ahead and make them himself, and in the case of the employer mandate in his health care law, that’s exactly what he did.”

In reality, delaying implementation of a minor provision of a law and making law unilaterally are not the same thing. Indeed, the Speaker’s office went on to say the White House “literally waived” the law, which simply isn’t true – delaying part of a law isn’t the same as literally waiving it. Those who can’t understand the difference probably shouldn’t pursue a career in legislating.

Regardless, even many of President Obama’s most vituperative critics would be forgiven for asking, “That’s it? This is all you got?” at this point. For weeks, John Boehner characterized the president as an out-of-control tyrant, but when push came to shove, the Speaker ignored his party’s concerns about immigration, the environment, and economic measures, and instead moved forward on one thing: a year-old delay in an obscure policy most people have never heard of.

For all the overheated rhetoric about the president’s lengthy list of abuses, this was the best Boehner could come up with. As Brian Beutler put it, “Today’s story is that the GOP has spent weeks and weeks accusing Obama of unbridled lawlessness, when they didn’t really have the goods.” Why is anyone sujrprised at this?  Haven't I been saying this all along??

Looking ahead, what’s the likely result of the lawsuit? It’s probably easier to consider this in Q&A form.

* What’s first? The House majority will have to agree to move forward with Boehner’s litigation plan, at which point it’ll go to federal court, where Republicans will have to demonstrate they have standing.

* Won’t that be difficult for the GOP? Almost certainly, yes. When filing a lawsuit, a plaintiff needs to be able to demonstrate that he or she has been harmed – or faces the threat of harm – in some demonstrable way. House Republicans upset about an implementation delay can’t simply go to court and argue to the judge, “We don’t like the president.” They’ll need to show how they’ve been adversely affected by the delay itself.

* Has a lawsuit like this ever worked before?  Uhhhhh NO!

* Remind me, what’s the “employer mandate”? In practical terms, the policy name is a bit of misnomer – there is no actual “mandate,” per se. Under the ACA, businesses with 50 or more full-time employees are told they need to offer health care coverage to their employees, but those who choose not to offer coverage have to pay a fairly modest tax penalty. Under the status quo, following the executive action, that penalty won’t kick in, at the earliest, before 2016.

* What’s the basis for the Republicans’ case? The law says the policy was supposed to be implemented by now, and Obama didn’t implement it. Ergo, the argument goes, the administration unilaterally decided to ignore this part of the law.

* If it was going to cause so much trouble, why did Obama delay it? Because it wasn’t ready to be implemented. Small businesses urged the White House for more time, so Obama gave them more time.

* Was that legal within executive authority? We’ll find out soon enough, but the administration has a fairly detailed defense.

* Given how upset Republicans are, President Obama’s move must have been unprecedented. Actually, it’s not. When the Bush/Cheney administration was implementing Medicare Part D, officials used executive power to move implementation deadlines around in order to make the law work more effectively. No one cared – and certainly no one sued.

 

* Do Republicans support the employer mandate? No, they vehemently oppose it.

* Then I’m confused. If Republicans didn’t want the policy to be implemented, why are they filing a lawsuit complaining that the policy wasn’t implemented? Remember, for GOP lawmakers, effective public policy wasn’t part of the equation. The GOP’s priority was failure – they wanted the system not to work. If the employer mandate would have made life difficult for the private sector, then Republicans desperately wanted it to happen so that it would hurt the economy, anger the public, and make the ACA more unpopular, causing a political nightmare for the president.

* So Boehner is suing because Obama isn’t implementing Obamacare fast enough? Pretty much.

* Politics aside, is this policy a good idea or a bad idea? Opinions vary, even among those who generally like the ACA. The fear is the mandate might discourage hiring, but the ACA extends all kinds of breaks to these employers to help subsidize the insurance and soften the blow of increased costs.

* Did the delay deny coverage to a lot of people? Actually no. The vast majority of employers in this category (about 96%) already offer health insurance to their workers, and the delay didn’t affect them at all. What’s more, the delay didn’t affect the creation of the exchanges, which ultimately bridged the gap.

 

* If these affected workers are going to get subsidized coverage through the exchanges anyway, why have the policy at all? Primarily because the employer mandate helps pay for the law. In fact, with the policy delayed, Obamacare will still reduce the deficit, but by about $4 billion less than previously estimated. Also note, the mandate was created to discourage employers that already provide coverage from dropping their employees and throwing workers into exchanges.

* What happens if the Republicans’ lawsuit somehow prevails? It’ll depend on the details, of course, but the result might very well be the implementation of a policy Republicans don’t like.

In this country...We can criticize our elected officials and make fun of them...Which makes us better than say Iraq or Syria or Iran where such criticism and ridicule would get your head chopped off...

Saying that...I'll say this...I am sure that even President George Washington was skewered in the Press of his day...but I don't know a President with the possible exception of Bill Clinton who has been maligned with such vitriol and disrespect as the man presently in the White House..

Barack Obama!  He has been hit with racial slurs, personal attacks on his family and had his citizenship questioned..Even Bill Clinton wasn't maligned that badly, though he's a close second...

And of course the white people who disrespect him always claim that they are exercising their right to free speech when they do this..and some of them (not all) seem genuinely hurt when they are accused of racism....But that what it is...Pure racism...

A lot of them don't even hide their racism now....They just can't believe that this nation twice elected a Black president...To te;ll you the truth...I can't believe it either...but here we are...

A Fourth of July parade float in Norfolk, Nebraska that showed a dummy standing outside an outhouse labeled "Obama Presidential Library" is drawing cries of racism from local residents and the Nebraska Democratic Party.

The float, in the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk, Nebraska., was affixed to trailer being towed behind a blue pickup truck. The dummy was clad in overalls, standing by a walker next to the outhouse.

The pickup truck and the float did not identify a sponsor, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

In a statement, the Nebraska Democratic Party called the float one of the "worst shows of racism and disrespect for the presidency that Nebraska has ever seen," according to the World-Herald.

Glory Kathurima, a black woman living in Norfolk, attended the parade with her nine year-old daughter. She told CBS News Omaha affiliate KMTV she was outraged by the float and disgusted that her daughter witnessed it.

"I'm ashamed, I'm appalled," she said. "You see people laughing and pointing at it, smiling, looking positive about it. I immediately felt sick to my stomach...I knew what that meant, and I knew there was no sort of political statement being made by an image like that."

Norfolk City Councilman Dick Pfeil told the World-Herald that the city "doesn't condone" the float.

But one of the parade's organizers, Rick Konopasek, told the Lincoln Journal-Star the float was intended to be no more offensive than a political cartoon. He said the outhouse was the most popular float in the parade, and that it earned an "honorable mention" from three judges. Want to bet that the judges are White, male Republicans or Tea Party Members?  That's not too much of a stretch is it?

"It's obvious the majority of the community liked it," Konopasek said. (Yeah,White, male Republicans or Tea Party Members)"So should we deny the 95 percent of those that liked it their rights, just for the 5 percent of people who are upset?"(White, male Republicans or Tea Party Members) Oh of course not...Heaven forbid...

Our turn is coming...And I don't want to hear any whining and crying and screams of blasphemy!  Respect our freedom of speech too! Of course...Most of these whining ,crying babies can dish it out, but they can't take it!

Since I didn't run this yesterday...I'm running it today!

A blonde walked into a shoe shop and saw a pair of shoes made from alligator skin that she liked.“How much for these shoes?” – she asked the store manager.

“They're $200 dollars″ – he replied.

“That’s too expensive! Can’t you bring the price down?” said the blonde.

The store manager said he couldn’t, and got irritated when the blonde persisted.

Finally after arguing with her for awhile he said, “There’s a pond with alligators behind the store! Why don’t you kill an alligator and get your alligator shoes free?!” – he yelled.

“Fine then. I will.” – the blonde replied.

After an hour, the manager got a bit worried that the blonde might have come to harm with the alligators. He decided to go out and check on her.

When he arrived at the pond, he saw the blonde lugging a dead alligator and flinging it on the ground next to 6 other dead ones.Before he could ask what she was doing, she wailed  

“Oh my gosh! This one doesn’t have any shoes either!”

This is Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Corbett...Republican Governor of the state I hail from...

I heard recently that a bill was placed before him that had in it... Provisions to increase funding for the cash strapped Philadelphia Public School System..Which had to close 28 public schools in mostly Black and Latino areas of the city last year and lay a smal, amount of teachers and Non Teaching Assistants off in order to balance the budget..

They also had to cut some after school programs too....

So when presented with a bill to increase funding to the still cash strapped school system..I heard that he balked!!!

He balked at the thought of signing it...

This fall come election time ,If he dares show himself in Philadelphia..I too will balk
at the idea of voting for his re-election...

In fact,I'll damn near laugh that he had the audacity to ask for a vote from anyone in the state's largest city.
