A Tale of Two Traffic Stops..

This is Kansas Senate Majority Leader Gene Sullenthrop...(Republican)  White...but you can see that!
About a month ago a Kansas highway patrol officer chased a white SUV speeding the wrong way down the interstate outside Topeka, Kansas.
. A state patrolman finally pulled the white SUV over and found Kansas Senate Majority Leader Gene Suellentrop (R) behind the wheel, drunk as a skunk.

Senator Suellentrop's blood alcohol was more than double the legal blood alcohol limit. What did the Kansas Senate Majority Leader do? Suellentrop verbally went on a tirade after being apprehended “All for going the wrong way,” calling one of the state troopers “Donut boy.”  I don't know if they knew who he was or not.. But here is the end result..

Kansas state troopers respectfully arrested Gene Suellentrop's without incident. Must be nice. Must be nice being white and male and wearing a suit and a tie.. That's not what would have happened to me under the same circumstances, even if I had on a tuxedo.

This is Army Lieutenant, Caron Nazario , who is of African-American and Latino origins... Driving his brand new SUV, with his temporary tags in the back..

A very sober Army lieutenant, Caron Nazario, was safety driving his new black SUV, temporary tags properly displayed, down a dark road in the Hampton Roads area.

Caron encountered a Windsor, Virginia patrolman who instructed Nazario to pull over.

Army lieutenant, Caron Nazario made a life preserving decision. He drove to a nearby well lit gas station instead of pulling over on that dark road, where he encountered two Windsor, Virginia patrolmen who immediately pulled their guns on him.

Caron told the two patrolmen that he was “honestly afraid to get out” of the car. One officer replied, “Yeah, you should be!”

He was Pepper Sprayed and arrested.. Later released and threatened that he "Better Not say anything."

He sued the Windsor Police department...His traffic stop was recorded and went viral.

One of the two officers who stopped him and pepper sprayed him has been fired!

That's how it would have ended up for me..or worse...I might be a hash tag...

Now I know, some of you well meaning white people say, well why didn't he comply? Why didn't he stop the first time...on a dark road???

Glad you asked!

Fred Goree, a Negro Leagues Baseball Manager, was murdered in cold blood by a white patrolman in July 1925 near St. Louis, Missouri.

That white patrolman refused to believe that a Negro could afford a 1925 Buick Master Six Sport Touring Sedan and killed Goree on the side of that dark road.

Lieutenant Caron Nazario made the right decision. He saved his own life.

It's a s different as Black and White...Litterally!
