A Quieter Kind of Racism

Subtle, Donald trump has never been...In fact Subtle and Donald Trump are Oxymorons...He's about as subtle as a bull in a china shop...

Which brings up the question....Do most Americans...Racist or not...Like to admit that to themselves???....Do they like their racism so in your face?

The signature feature of Donald Trump's  entire rhetoric, as has been argued before , many times during
during this campaign, is that he takes what others might imply, convey with subtlety, or offer as subtext, and slaps it right on the table in front of you. For some people, this kind of straightforwardness is thrilling. For others it's horrifying.

Either way, with Trump ,you know what you're getting and you can't tell yourself otherwise. So it is on the question of religious discrimination, namely, whether the government is sufficiently vigorous in its efforts to discriminate against Muslims. Trump's position is that it most certainly is not.

When it comes to members of the world's second-largest religion, Donald Trump doesn't even bother with "...and some, I assume, are good people," as he said about Mexicans after calling them a bunch of  rapists and drug dealers. Whether you're a Muslim refugee fleeing war and oppression, a Muslim tourist hoping to check out the Grand Canyon, or an American Muslim just going about your daily life, Trump wants to put your ass  on notice.

Since the attack in Orlando — which is increasingly looking like the work of a violent and troubled ,closeted gay man harboring rage against gay people who added a pledge of loyalty to ISIS as a kind of garnish on his dish of murderous rage, to make him seem manly — Donald Trump has reiterated his intention to ban Muslims from entering the United States. "They come into our country, they want to take it over," he said last week, reiterating his intention to keep mosques under surveillance.

He also says he wants to start profiling Muslims as a means of singling them out, but apart from using it to keep certain people out of his rallies, he didn't specify exactly how he would want to deploy the technique. And he accused the Muslim "community" of knowing that the Orlando shooter was ready to commit mass murder and knowing the same about the killers in San Bernardino.

Donald Trump's message to American Muslims couldn't be clearer: You're not really American. You may have been born and raised here, but because of your religion, you aren't one of us. (The same thing some White Americans think about African-Americans by the way...but don't come out and say..)

If it makes them feel any better, he apparently feels that way about Latinos as well; Remember that he said repeatedly that the Indiana-born judge (and my Fraternity Brother) in the fraud case against Trump University couldn't be impartial because "he's a Mexican." Only white people, apparently, are truly American without regard to who their parents or grandparents were...You may not like what I'm saying.. but that is essentially what he's saying.

There is no doubt that many of Donald Trump's most ardent supporters feel their hearts beat a little faster when they hear their candidate throw off  quote unquote.."political correctness" and put his bigotry on display for all to see. But if his goal is to persuade those who aren't already behind him to come on board, he's going to have an awfully tough time.

That isn't because there isn't plenty of anti-Muslim feeling out there, because there is. But even many people who harbor those feelings like to tell themselves...They like to tell themselves that they believe in equality and religious liberty, that they're not prejudiced against anyone, and that everyone's welcome in America. Even though it is quite evident...(Even to them) that this couldn't be further from the truth!

When other politicians deal in subtext and innuendo, they offer you a kind of internal plausible deniability, whereby you can convince yourself that you aren't supporting bigoted policies (let alone a candidate who is an actual bigot).

Donald Trump is not  and has never been capable of that kind of subtlety. And he thinks America is eating up what he's feeding them. Jenna Johnson of The Washington Post reported this week on the internal deliberations among Trump and his advisors when in December he prepared to announce his plan to bar all Muslims from entering the United States:

"As Trump and his top aides flew to South Carolina for a rally that evening, several said they worried that they had made a major mistake. But then Trump boarded the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant and read his statement to a crowd heavy with members of the military. The crowd went crazy.
"As Trump got into the car after the rally that night, he told his staff: 'Well, there's your poll. That's how people feel about this.'" [The Washington Post]

Of course, the attendees at a Donald Trump rally are not a representative sample of the American public, a public containing all kinds of people who might balk at what he suggests.

DonaldTrump hasn't seemed to consider the moderate white voters who don't like to be associated with a candidate whose contempt for non-whites is on such vivid display.

That's not to mention the rapidly growing minority population. When it comes to them, Donald Trump may not be aware that the things you say about one minority group get noticed by members of other minority groups.

If you're Latino or African-American or Asian-American or a member of any number of other minorities, you know what it's like to wonder whether your society looks on you with suspicion and defines you as The Other.

When a candidate like Mr.Trump attacks Muslims, many people who are not Muslim know that it's only a matter of time before he comes after them, if he hasn't already.

So no matter what extravagant claims he makes about the American greatness that will arrive once he's in the White House, they know that Donald Trump's version of a great America is one that's reserved for some people, particularly white Christians.

Donald Trump might have tried to send that message without rubbing everyone's face in it. But that's not his style...It never has been ,never will be..

Some people argue that he's just pulling the sheet off of what has always been there...but at the same time...most people like that sheet on them....

Reality is cold...and people would prefer to stay covered up!

3 women died in a car crash and when they arrive at the gates of Heaven St. Peter greets them and takes them to God. "Ok," said God, "I know all you three women have been very nice people throughout your life so your are free to do what your please in Heaven just do not step on the ducks."

Sure enough when they go through the gates of Heaven they're ducks everywhere and its hard not to step on them Unfortunately one of the women do,

"What was the one thing I told you not to do," God asked her, "I told you not to step on the ducks," and with a click of his fingers she was handcuffed to the most ugliest man she had ever seen in her life. A couple of weeks passed and it as growing more and more difficult not to step on the ducks and the next women stepped on one, "I told you not to step on the ducks" God said to her when he found out and with another click of his fingers she was cuffed to the ugliest man she had ever seen.

The third women was careful and after 3 years had never stepped on a duck and all off a sudden she was cuffed to the most gorgeous man she had ever seen and she said "I dont know what I have done but it must of been something good"

And the man replies, "I dont know about you but I stepped on a duck"

Who is a Terrorist?

Above is Omar Marteen, the 29 year old man who shot and killed 49 people and wounded 53 in a Gay club in Orlando ,Florida....

Study what the photo above says....He was born in the United States....New York City to be exact...He worked as a Security Guard in a suburb of Orlando,Florida, also in the United States...Went to school here and bought an American Made Weapon....

Yet he is an Islamic Terrorist???

The media is a manipulative machine...a Manipulative beast.....Omar Mateen is labeled a terrorist because of how he looks and because his parents are from Afghanistan  but, Dylann Roof the guy who shot up the church in Charleston, South Carolina wasn't?

or the guy who shot up the planned parenthood clinic in Colorado wasn't? Or the guy that shot up the movie theater in Aurora..or the guy who killed all of those kids in Sandy Hook wasn't? ...I could go on and On...It's all manipulation..they want us to fear Muslims and disregard the domestic terrorists...White Males...Amongst us....

Huh? Who is really a Terrorist?

A woman is on one of those funeral cruises where the ashes of loved ones may be dumped into the sea. She had been married to a real cheapskate, who after 30 years of marriage finally died. The lady had her husband cremated, at his wishes, because he felt a plot would cost too much.

After the memorial services, she went to the railing and poured his ashes out into her hands and started talking to him. "Henry," she said, "You know that mink cape I wanted all my life? Well your company sold for so much that now I have bought myself a beautiful full length mink coat." "

"And Henry," she said, "You know that trip to the Caribbean I always wanted to take? Well, I took a world cruise for 90 days and it was wonderful!"

"And Henry," she continued, "You know that big blue Cadillac I had been hoping for the last 5 years? Well I bought a Rolls Royce instead and it drives like a dream." "

"Oh, and Henry," she said, "You know that blow job you always wanted?" and she blew the ashes out of her hands into the sea . . .

Trump Has Stepped Into It Now (Or Has He?)

I often wonder if Donald trump can ever do or say anything so over the top that it will turn everybody against him....I had come to the position that he was teflon Donald and could do no wrong...I mean he has insulted Hispanics and Latinos, Muslims, Handicapped people , African-Americans...and women...and there have been protests and waves of outrage....but within days...It has subsided and the media and damn near everyone else has given him a pass...

Yes..I know he is the presumptive Republican Candidate...but even they don't want to endorse him...But they have no choice...who else do they have?

Now he has said something so racist and so over the top that even they want to distance themselves from him...

And yet...They are still going to support him come November!

The Republican primaries end Tonight as I'm writing this with an embattled Donald Trump under pressure to tone down his rhetoric, including House Speaker Paul Ryan's statement that the businessman's attacks on a federal judge amount to "textbook racism."

Trump's claims that a federal judge is biased because of "Mexican heritage" have been likened to Joe McCarthy-like Communist witch hunts, and have prompted pressure on Republican leaders to pull their support of the New York businessman.

"Claiming a person can't do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment," Ryan told reporters Tuesday. "If you say something that's wrong I think the mature and responsible thing is to acknowledge it."

Federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. I too  am also a member of this same fraternity. Judge Curiel became a member of the fraternity’s Alpha Chapter in March 27, 1974. He is also a charter member of the Bloomington (IN) Alumni Chapter. Judge Curiel is currently the target of a series of racially motivated personal attacks, coming from Donald Trump.

Still, the Wisconsin Republican said Trump is a better bet than Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and "I think if we go into the fall as a divided party we are doomed to lose."

Newsflash Paul...You are going to Lose!

Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., speaking on MSNBC's Morning Joe, said of Trump: "He still has time to pivot — Time is running short, but he has time to do that."

Trump has maintained his attacks on the federal judge hearing a fraud lawsuit against the now-shuttered Trump University, saying his "Mexican heritage" makes him biased against a candidate who has criticized illegal immigration from Mexico.

"It's a civil lawsuit that should have been dismissed a long time ago but the judge is treating me very unfairly," Trump said Monday on Fox News.

U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel is a former federal prosecutor who was born in Indiana. His parents were born in Mexico.

The Manhattan real estate mogul who wrapped up the Republican presidential nomination in early May is scheduled to speak tonight(as I am writing this) as he claims wins in the final five GOP delegate contests: California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota.

Trump, who also called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States, has also questioned whether Muslim judges could be fair.

Critics, including some Republicans, said Trump's emphasis on the judge's ethnicity amounts to racism.
While many GOP lawmakers have endorsed Trump — if only as the sole alternative to Clinton — they have become increasingly uncomfortable in recent days.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., calling Trump's judicial attacks "the most un-American thing from a politician since Joe McCarthy," told The New York Times: “If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it ... There’ll come a time when the love of country will trump hatred of Hillary.”
Graham told MSNBC he will not vote for either Trump or Clinton in the general election, and said he is looking for a write-in candidate....

The sound of laughter you hear in the background is me laughing...

Joseph McCarthy, a U.S. senator from Wisconsin from 1947 to 1957, led a series of congressional hearings investigating suspected Communists in the federal government. He was censured by the Senate in 1954 and died of hepatitis exacerbated by alcoholism in 1957.

Former U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough, R-Fla., now the host of MSNBC's Morning Joe, said on the program Tuesday that Republicans need to reconsider their support of Trump, or risk losing control of the House and Senate in the fall elections.

"Republicans, call him out, back away from those endorsements," Scarborough said. "Make him back down on the Muslim ban. Make him back down on this racist comment that he's made about a man born in Indiana saying he's incapable of being a fair judge."

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a potential running mate for Trump, told reporters that businessman is not a racist. Christie said that Ryan is "entitled to his opinion," but criticized Graham as a sore loser to Trump in the GOP presidential race.

Trump, meanwhile, says his campaign will prevail in the long run.
"I want to focus on the economy, I want to focus on the military," Trump said on Fox News. "I want to focus on things that we need to focus on. Not a civil lawsuit that I'm going to end up winning anyway."

He may have really stepped in it now! Let's see if this sticks to his shoes!

The Greatest Has Left The Building

Muhammad Ali is gone...As Mike Tyson said..."God has come for his champion.." I got the tragic news early this morning that the Greatest Of All Time had died of respiratory failure, due to complications from the Parkinson's Disease he had battled for thirty some years...

“I know where I’m going and I know the truth, and I don’t have to be what you want me to be, I’m free to be what I want." That's my favorite Ali quote....

If Muhammad Ali taught me anything , it was to  always be true to yourself and don't compromise who you are...Because even though people may hate you today...People and public opinion are fickle...Chances are...They'll love you tomorrow.... Rest Well Champ...You were always my champion....(1942-2016)
