Weekend Humor

The milkman goes to the door to collect his money, when he knocks the door swings open and he walks in.

The place is a mess, beer bottles and liquor bottles everywhere. He is just about to leave when the lady of the house comes down the stairs.

He looks at her then looks at the mess She catching the hint, explains that they had a big party last night.

The milkman spots a blanket in the corner with holes all cut out. "What was that for?" He asked .

"Well." she explained "We were playing party games last night, were we had all the men line up behind the blanket and stick there penis’s out the holes. Then all the women went along and tried to guess whose was whose."

"Man, that must have been some party you gals had last night...I sure wish I had of been there." he said..

She gave him the side eye and said-

"Well you might as well have been here your name came up several times."

Weekend Humor

A truck driver was driving on the freeway when he noticed a young girl standing on the side of the road next to a broken down car.

The truck driver pulls up behind the car and rolls his window down.

The young girl comes up to his window. He says "Hey lady need a lift?" she replies to him "Yes my car broke down i need to get to a phone."

She opens the door and jumps in. As they are driving the truck driver introduces himself. "My name is Snow, what’s yours?"

"June" she replies to him.

He then asks her her age, and she replies to him that she is 22.

He goes on to ask stupid questions to get her into a talking mood.

After a while she notices he has been staring at her ever since she got into the truck.

She decides to ask him "Is there something wrong? You have been staring at me."

He looks over and replies "No. I'm just thinking,"

"Thinking about what?" she asks.

He replies with a grin on his face "Thinkin what it would be like to have seven inches of snow in June."

I've Said This All Before

I was very disappointed at the voter turn out a few days ago or rather the lack of it.....Why is it that we don't vote in droves unless something happens? Or there is a very electric and charismatic candidate that captures our imagination??

Why is it when we do vote we don't hold our candidates accountable? We elect them and that is that.
No it's not...and when something happens, all we can do is take to the streets and march and protest.
Newsflash...You can march and protest until the cows come home...It won't change a thing...
They're still marching and protesting in Ferguson....Did Darren Wilson get indicted? By anybody??

Voting and holding candidates accountable after you vote for them does change things...If you don't believe me...Go out to the suburbs...Where they do hold their elected officials accountable...Those politicians know that if they don't serve their constituents...They're out of a job next election...

That goes a long way towards actually serving people's needs.....In Philadelphia...everybody knows that the democrats have the city on lock and that they can parade any candidate in front of the people here and they will blindly vote them in office....A lot of times unopposed....

I'm saying this and I'm a Democrat...A registered one anyway...I would vote Republican sometimes if they weren't so crazy and racist and they said something that serves my needs..That not being the case..I am forced to vote Democrat...But sometimes I feel as though they take my vote for granted...

Still, I vote..Every election......I owe that much to my grandparents.....Who couldn't vote in their home states in the deep south at one time.....

I just wish more people felt the same...

The Scariest Kind of Racist.

I give you exhibit A...Dr. Jerry Hough ...Pictured above...A Professor at Duke University and a racist, xenophobic and cultural chauvinist.....

Yes..He is all of these things and the scariest thing about him is....He doesn't believe he is....

Maybe because he is after all a professor at Duke University....

Yeah,that's the ticket!

He said recently that ''Asian Americans worked extra hard and gave their kids “American” names as a show of their willingness to integrate with American society.

Duke University Professor Jerry Hough is receiving backlash (as well he should)after he posted a response to a New York Times editorial, in which he expressed disdain for what he said was black Americans being told to feel sorry for themselves with regard to racism, WTVD reports.

The blacks get awful editorials like this that tell them to feel sorry for themselves,” Hough, a political science professor, wrote.

He also described Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake as “utterly incompetent” for her handling of the recent unrest in Baltimore where hundreds of people have protested against Freddie Gray’s fatal detainment by police.

Professor Hough also seemed to suggest that the Asian-American community’s response to racism and discrimination has been better than that of black Americans.

“In 1965, the Asians were discriminated against as least as badly as blacks. […] So where are the editorials that say racism doomed the Asian Americans. They didn’t feel sorry for themselves, but worked doubly hard,” Hough said.

I don't recall any signs in the South ever saying no Chinese...No Asians...Maybe they were included with us in places where the signs read "White Only."

Then Hough wrote about how Asian Americans were more willing to integrate with American culture— because they gave their kids “American” names—while saying black Americans gave their kids “strange” names. Strange to whom?  See how strange your name sounds in Africa Mr. Hough.

“Every Asian student has a very simple old American first name that symbolizes their desire for integration. Virtually every black has a strange new name that symbolizes their lack of desire for integration,” he wrote.

Since I work with a number of Asians...I happen to know  that what he said is not true...The younger generation of Asians are keeping their traditional names.

Dr. Hough also weighed in on how each group deals with interracial dating, which, according to Dr. Hough, sheds more light on how black Americans don’t want to integrate with white Americans.

“The amount of Asian-white dating is enormous and so surely will be the intermarriage. Black-white dating is almost nonexistent because of the ostracism by blacks of anyone who dates a white.”

This arrogance and foolishness that is coming from this man's mouth would make sense if it was coming from Joe Sixpack...The good old boy who buys a case of beer and sets down in front of his TV and watches FOX News and ESPN.....but I'm really surprised it's coming from a seemingly intelligent man.  Seemingly be the operative word here.

Duke University issued a statement slamming the professor’s comments.

“The comments were noxious, offensive, and have no place in civil discourse,"
said Michael Schoenfeld , the school’s vice president for public affairs and government affairs. “Duke University has a deeply held commitment to inclusiveness grounded in respect for all, and we encourage our community to speak out when they feel that those ideals are challenged or undermined, as they were in this case.”
Dr. Hough has since responded to the backlash, saying that Martin Luther King Jr. was his hero, that he’s a proponent of affirmative action, and arguing that those people encouraging him to be more sensitive about these issues are wrong, since “sensitivity” never moved the ball on race relations.
“I am strongly against the obsession with ‘sensitivity.’ The more we have emphasized sensitivity in recent years, the worse race relations have become,” Hough wrote to WTVD. “I think that is not an accident.”

Proving once more that the scariest kind of racist is the one who is not even aware he/she is one.

Dark Money

Pictured above is Philadelphia Mayoral Candidate, Anthony Hardy Williams....He's one of about six people running...He and I went to Middle school together...I won't say we were friends...We passed each other in the hallway...We may have known each other in passing...We certainly ran in the same circles and knew some of the same people...

He's a year older than me and was a grade ahead of me....Every Black person in our middle school however knew who he was because his father...the Late State Senator, Hardy Williams was the first Black man to have a serious chance at a run for Mayor of this city back in 1971...

The Black community of Philadelphia was galvanized behind his father and so in my middle school, next to the Jackson 5, Anthony Hardy Williams was the most popular Black kid going.....

So Flash forward to now, 2015....Some 44 years later and Anthony Hardy Williams is going to attempt to be this city's fourth African-American mayor...He may just do it... His commercials are everywhere, Television,Radio, Social Media...you name it......So why am I writing this?

What is eating you Keith?  Glad you asked...

Just a little while ago...I read in an activist newspaper that his campaign was being funded by three white guys who don't live in Philadelphia, but who have what you might call...a Super Pac and an agenda...Charter Schools...

His whole message has been favoring parents having the right to send their kids to any schools they can afford...afford being the operative word here and not being stuck with the crumbling public school system in Philadelphia...A system that would work if maybe it was funded......

I could talk about that more in another blog post....What really eats at me is that I don't like a politician who is funded by people who then can tell him what to say....I know...I must be naive...This has been going on since probably the election after George Washington's...but it's never been so overt,so in your face as it is now...

Politicians used to raise their own money or at least SOME of it....It seems this dark money being raised by independent and secret groups unaccountable to any public scrutiny is the new trend now and I find it a bit unsettling..

This is the current reality of American politics, and for those who follow presidential or congressional elections, it’s not a particularly new development. It’s the Koch Brothers and George Soros, super PACs and dark money. But now, for the first time, similar forces are at work at the local level in Philadelphia, and all signs suggest they’ll play a dominant role in this spring’s election.
Unlike the official campaign committees of the mayoral candidates, these super PACs and dark-money movers aren’t bound by the city’s strict campaign-finance limits. Candidate campaigns in Philadelphia can accept a maximum of $2,900 from individual donors. But because of recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings, there are now no limits on donations to super PACs, and those committees are free to independently spend as much as they can raise on behalf of whichever candidates they support.

This isn’t simply a possibility. It’s already happening. Three local investment moguls gave a combined $250,000 to a new super PAC called American Cities last year, an amount widely considered to be a down payment on larger sums to come.

This same trio of donors — founding directors of the Susquehanna International Group, a global trading firm headquartered in Bala Cynwyd, a Philadelphia suburb — plunked down $5 million on Anthony Hardy Williams’s quixotic bid to become governor in 2010, simply to raise the profile of their pet issue (education reform). This time around, Tony Williams is arguably the mayoral front-runner. Another $5 million spent on his behalf could assure him the election.

Philadelphia’s mayoral contenders tend to be  broke. When the year began, they had just one-sixth as much total cash in their campaign bank accounts as the big-name mayoral field of 2007 (which featured Michael Nutter, Chaka Fattah, Tom Knox, Bob Brady and Dwight Evans). Presumably, the tepid fund-raising pace will pick up at least a little for Tony Williams, Lynne Abraham and Jim Kenney. But given their slow start, and the general lack of enthusiasm for the field, these campaigns are probably not going to have the resources to effectively respond to a blistering series of dark-money attack ads.

And that separates Philadelphia from other cities that have already been infiltrated by dark money and independent expenditures. Unshackled political action committees have already been factors in mayoral races in Boston, New York, Newark and Chicago. But in those contests, the candidates still raised most of the money and controlled the tenor and focus of the campaigns.

I don't know how much or if Anthony Hardy Williams has raised on his own....but I do know that the media blitzkreig of his ads, the catchy slogans and pure sophistication of his ads are far superior to the other six or seven candidates and the dangerous thing is...Given that people live for soundbites and flash and very rarely look deeper, like reading, googling et al...We may get a guy who is bought and paid for and who won't serve the people of Philadelphia, but serve the dark money that put him in office....I'm just saying...

I'm not Anti-Tony Williams...I'm just concerned....as you should be.

It could happen in your city next!

Weekend Humor

A woman was out golfing one day when she hit the ball into the woods.

She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog in a trap.

The frog said to her "If you release me from this trap, I will grant you 3 wishes."

The woman freed the frog and the frog said, "Thank you, but I failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes-that whatever you wish for, your husband will get 10 times more or better!"

The woman said, "That would be okay," and for her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world.

The frog warned her, "You do realize that this wish will also make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis, that women will flock to."

The woman replied, "That will be okay because I will be the most beautiful woman and he will only have eyes for me."

So, KAZAM she's the most beautiful woman in the world!

For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.

The frog said, "That will make your husband the richest man in the world and he will be ten times richer than you."

The woman said, "That will be okay because what is mine is his and what is his is mine."

So, KAZAM - she's the richest woman in the world! The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, "I'd like a mild heart attack."

Karma is a Bitch (or this is just Florida)

I don't know how many more times I'm going to write about George Zimmerman, the man who killed an unarmed teenager named Trayvon Martin and got away with it...Old boy can't seem to keep himself out of trouble and out of the news....He's been in six different incidents since he was acquitted of murdering 17 year old Trayvon Martin...

Yesterday he got shot!

Yeah that's right...but relax...He's alright!

George Zimmerman, the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin in 2012, suffered facial injuries yesterday after a shooting at a busy intersection in Lake Mary.
Police identified the other person in the shooting as a man Zimmerman had an altercation with in September, police said.

George Zimmerman was released from a hospital in Sanford today with some kind of facial wound, possibly from flying glass or some other type of debris.

"I don't believe he had a direct hit with a bullet," said Don West, Zimmerman's attorney.
News footage showed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the passenger-side window of Zimmerman's Honda Ridgeline SUV.

News footage showed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the passenger-side window of Zimmerman's Honda Ridgeline SUV.

It was towed from the scene by a wrecker.

The shooting took place at the entrance to Trailhead Park near Lake Mary Boulevard and Rinehart Road at about 1 p.m. yesterday..

George Paschek, a resident in a neighborhood behind the shooting scene, said he was working on his lawn when he heard what sounded like two gunshots.

"I heard it and I said, 'Boy, that sounds like gunshots,'" Paschek said.

He added that he went back to his yard work, thinking he had mistaken the noise.
"When the helicopters flew over I started looking at the news," he added, before describing his reaction at hearing who was involved: "Zimmerman! Holy smokes!"

Lake Mary Chief Steve Bracknell said Zimmerman did not shoot, but a man shot at him.

An investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
Police initially thought the shooting was a road-rage incident, but Bracknell said that might not be true.
Bracknell said the other man in the shooting is cooperating with police.

Zimmerman was involved in a road-rage incident on Lake Mary Boulevard with Matthew Apperson of Winter Springs in September.

In that case, Zimmerman allegedly threatened to shoot Apperson after he pulled his Honda Ridgeline truck next to the man's vehicle.

"George Zimmerman was the driver, and they were threatening to kick my [expletive] and to shoot me," the man told a 911 dispatcher.

At the time, according to Bracknell, the man did not want to press charges.

So Zimmerman was not arrested.

George Zimmerman was accused of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the Feb. 26, 2012 shooting death of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford.

A Seminole County jury acquitted him in July 2013.

Then the U.S. Department of Justice investigated.

But it said in February that George Zimmerman will not face federal civil-rights charges, citing a lack of evidence.

Since his trial, Zimmerman had several encounters with the police.

Twice he's been arrested, accused by girlfriends of getting violent during breakups, and in 2013, his estranged wife accused him of threatening her and her father with a gun while they were moving out her belongings.

He was arrested Jan. 9, accused by Lake Mary police of aggravated assault, but prosecutors backed away from filing criminal in the domestic-violence case because a woman, initially upset and angry, changed her story.

Yes...He's been very lucky so far....He was lucky again yesterday....but if he's not careful...one day...his luck will run out!

A Possible Split?

This could be just a disagreement...No two people however close are going to always agree on everything....

I'm hoping the latest story coming out of Washington is just that, a disagreement of terms on one issue and not a personal and political split amongst two progressive icons that I admire...

I'm talking about President Obama and Senator Elizabeth Warren....

If you read the Washington Post....It is saying that President Obama went after Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) for her increasingly pointed critiques of a proposed trade deal he supports.

“She’s absolutely wrong,” President Obama told Yahoo News in an interview published Saturday.

These comments come after Senator Warren said the deal might eventually undo Wall Street reform, one of President Obama’s signature achievements and a major issue for Warren and her supporters.
The White House responded that the Trans-Pacific Partnership would specifically prevent that unless Congress overrode the provision with a vote.

President Obama, in (for  him) an unusually frank critique, suggested Senator Warren was seeking to bolster her political brand by going after the deal and that she was going too far in floating “hypotheticals.”

The truth of the matter is that Elizabeth is, you know, a politician like everybody else. And you know, she’s got a voice that she wants to get out there. And I understand that,” The President said, according to Yahoo.

“On most issues, she and I deeply agree. On this one, though, her arguments don’t stand the test of fact and scrutiny.”

He said he would have to be “pretty stupid” to support a trade deal that could undo financial reform.
“Think about the logic of that, right?” he said. “The notion that I had this massive fight with Wall Street to make sure that we don’t repeat what happened in 2007, 2008. And then I sign a provision that would unravel it? … This is pure speculation [by Warren]. She and I both taught law school, and you know, one of the things you do as a law professor is you spin out hypotheticals. And this is all hypothetical, speculative.”

The comments are sure to ratchet up the fight over the deal, which has support from top Republicans but is opposed by many Democrats and conservatives.

Elizabeth Warren, a liberal icon whom many on the left want to challenge Hillary Clinton in 2016, is an increasingly vocal critic.

I don't want to see any split on the left.....The Republicans have about six or seven people running for President next year....That's split enough for me...Now more than ever , the Left has to be united and have one message to give to the American people...

But,who am I kidding???  This is America, right??

I'll Always Love my Mama

I always get a little emotional around this day....You see,it's only been seven years since my mother departed this life...2008....This blog was only a few months old...Escapades was on the drawing board and hadn't been launched yet....I had no Facebook or Twitter page yet...(didn't even know what they were...) and Good Foodie wasn't even a thought in my mind..

Barack Obama was just starting to make headway in the primaries...The thought of a Black President was still too grand a concept for anybody to put their head around in May 2008 when she left here..She did think that he might have a chance....

Tame times huh?  I still marvel at how different the world was then.....

On this day, I suprisingly still think of the end of her life and not the entire life that she lived...That's wrong I know...but I'm still working things out...So many things happened and I had to do so much ,being the oldest son....I never really got the chance to grieve properly and take it all in...

Still working on that......I'll let you know how it turns out...

On a brighter note...For those who have mothers that are living...Honor them....Not just on this day, but everyday they are living and breathing!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Weekend Humor

A couple was having some trouble, so they did the right thing and went to a marriage counselor. After a few visits, and a lot of questioning and listening, the counselor said that he had discovered the main problem. He stood up, went over to the woman, asked her to stand, and gave her a hug. He looked at the man and said, "This is what your wife needs, at least once a day!"

The man frowned, thought for a moment, then said, "OK, what time do you want me to bring her here tomorrow?"

Weekend Humor

In a crowded city at a busy bus stop, a beautiful young woman who was waiting for a bus was wearing a tight mini skirt.

As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus. Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg. Again, she tried to make the step only to discover she still couldn't.

So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the second time attempted the step, and, once again, much to her dismay, she could not raise her leg.

With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind a third time to unzip a little more and again was unable to make the step.

About this time, a large Texan who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus.

She went ballistic and turned to the would be Samaritan and yelled, "How dare you touch my body! I don't even know who you are!"

The Texan smiled and drawled, "Well, ma'am, normally I would agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured we was friends!"
