What I've Learned

1. When you're talking to a Novelist or one who writes short stories or a songwriter.. You're talking to a liar.. That's what we do..We make stuff up!

2. You only have so many damn's to give in your life, so don't give a damn about anything that's not worthy of it.

3. My Goal is to get to 100.  I'll be 64 on Wednesday...That gives me 36 more years! I like those odds!

4. Luck is believing you're lucky....If you think you're lucky...You are!

5. The world is so full of information and ways to get this information...It's a wonder we don't all collapse of mental overloads.

6. Never really was stuck on Money...But I always wanted to get paid for what I did.

7. I realize now that for most of life I was grossly underpaid.

8. Life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone.

9. I often wonder what death is like... Does everything just go blank?

10.I have three Grand children...that's two more than I expected to have.. I feel blessed.

PEACE!

Ketangi Brown

To many, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's appointment is a clear example of affirmative action and she is having her qualifications questioned.

But out of the 115 people confirmed to the Supreme Court,

40 of them were never a judge before being put on the SCOTUS.

18 of them never completed law school, and 47 of them never even attended law school. Meanwhile Judge Jackson went to Harvard Law school, was an editor of the Harvard law review, has been a Judge for 9 years, was a criminal defense lawyer and she had 3 federal clerkships including clerking on the SCOTUS.

It's amazing that dozens of the white men on the SCOTUS didn't even have a law degree; nobody asked about their qualifications, and nobody questioned their rulings or Judgement.

But one black lady since 1789 has the potential of being confirmed and suddenly; people are worried about qualifications.

These are the same people who will say stuff like "It's not about race" "I don't see color" . My hope is that she shakes things up on that bench!

KEEPING THE FAITH: RANDOM PRAYERS "ON THE DOWNLOAD"

DEAR GOD: My heart is heavy with my own failures. I try to excuse them and explain to myself why they occurred, because I want to be free from the feeling that I am unworthy and incapable of being all that I can be. But I find it easier to accept your forgiveness than to forgive myself. When I try to forgive myself, it seems I only remember and re-play my failures in my mind, and a sense of hopelessness floods over me. Help me to know that my past actions are a part of my growing humanity and that even when I fail to live up to what is your will for me, every single moment can be lived anew. Remind me that refusing to forgive myself only keeps me from experiencing that newness. Assure me of the truth that by casting “my sins into the depth of the sea”, you have freed me to discard them myself and live the next moment as if it were my first, for indeed it is. I ask this for the sake of your love. Amen.
