Those Women Voters
You know...I don't understand the Republican party...They have aileanated the largest group of voters in the country. Women! With all of this talk about contraception and abortion amongst other things... Now would be a great time for the Obama campaign and the Democrats in general to rach out to them. In fact..That just may be what is happening.
President Obama's re-election team campaign appears to be intensiing its efforts with female voters this week, according to the New York Times.
Using the current debates about birth control coverage in his health care law, President Obama hopes to connect with women who may feel that they are in danger of losing their rights at the hands of the Republican Party.
President Obama is trying to recapture the traditionally Democratic women's vote. Women were 53 percent of the national vote in 2008 and accounted for 56 percent of his votes, despite leaning Republican in the 2010 midterm elections.
I've been reading and hearing on CNN that The President's campaign will begin sending out mailings to more than a million women in a dozen of the so called battleground states.
Three separate versions of the mailing will be sent out to young women, older women and mothers. An effort called "Nurses for Obama" will begin on Wednesday, with nurses natonwide enlisted as advocates for the president's health care law.
A New Web site will include links to video testimonials about the health care overhaul signed by Mr. Obama in 2010, including from a former critic who subsequently was found to have breast cancer.
Through the month,President Obama's campaign field offices will organize phone banks, campus activities, house parties and media events featuring local residents helped by the health care law, culminating in a "Women's Week of Action."
The Obama campaign’s effort to rally women around the health care law had been long planned, to coincide with the second anniversary of Mr. Obama signing it on March 23, campaign officials said. But the effort has gained intensity, they added, because of recent controversies over contraception, abortion and education in Washington and in state capitals that have energized people in the campaign’s far-flung field offices who are essential to putting any national strategy into action.
For example, in New Hampshire, a swing state, the seven field offices will hold 16 phone banks to contact female voters about the benefits for them in the health care law. On Wednesday, when the “Nurses for Obama” effort is to be announced, nurses in New Hampshire will be making the calls, field organizers say.
In Virginia, another battleground state, Barbara Kanninen volunteered a month ago to help lead a “Women for Obama” network and said “it’s growing fast” thanks to the debates in Washington and Richmond. “The conversations at these house parties are very much dominated by women concerned about all this,” said Ms. Kanninen, a freelance economist and mother of two teenage boys.
Her own house party drew women that she did not know and three members of her choral group with whom she had never discussed politics, Ms. Kanninen said, and each day brings at least one new message of interest on her Facebook page from some woman who has heard of the group.
"Up until six weeks ago, Democrats suffered from an intensity gap, but this has closed as women -- particularly suburban women -- have turned against the GOP," Peter D. Hart, a Democratic pollster who is not affiliated with the campaign, told the New York Times
This is good...This is further proof that Romney, who I will call "Flipper" from now on because he flips positions so often...
Newt 'Sexy Beast " Gingrich, Rick Santorum (No name I can write aabout him is printable) and crazy ass (Ron Paul)have no business even running for President.
The way they have systematically aileanated everyone except maybe Asians and White males is amazing...Amazingly stupid...and like I said..With candidates this bad...Why waste money campaigning?? They'll win the election for you.

(Not So ) Super Tuesday
For the Republicans...it's so called ''Super Tuesday"...That's the day in presidential races when a number of states and delegates are up for grabs and theoretically....The person who emerges with the most wins and delegates is most assuredly the one the party will be backing for president.
So who will walk away with the most chips? Will it be Mitt? , Rick? , Newt?? or crazy (Ron Paul)?? and do you care???
The battle for the Republican presidential nomination stands to gain a degree of clarity if that's possible after tonight – amid signs that the race has hurt the eventual nominee’s chances in the eyes of some Republicans.
The nominating fight has stretched for two months already has been marked by an especially negative tone. And it’s taken a toll; 40 percent of U.S. adults – and 23 percent of GOP primary voters – said the primary process has given them a less favorable opinion of the Republican primary, according to Monday’s NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
“I think if you polled folks, they very much want to have a spokesperson — an identified candidate — sooner rather than later,” said Rep. Steve LaTourette, a Republican who’s backing Romney, and a veteran of Capitol Hill.
Ohio is the consumate swing state...It's a state that plays host to one of 11 contests on Super Tuesday in which delegates are at stake. The competition is especially fierce in Ohio, where Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are rehashing their fight from Michigan’s primary just a week before.
A week later, the tables have been turned for Rick Santorum. He’s now the candidate who must beat expectations and halt Mitt Romney’s momentum. Ohio, and, to a lesser extent, Tennessee, have become the proving ground for the former Pennsylvania senator today.
"Politics is a game of expectations — who overperforms, who underperforms ... I still believe a coalescing needs to take place behind an alternative to Romney," said Bob Vander Plaats, an influential social conservative leader from Iowa whose support helped propel Rick Santorum to an ultraslim victory over Mitt Romney in the state's Jan. 3 caucuses. "I think what he [Santorum] needs to do is he needs to over-deliver on expectations."
Sad to say, I think he has already over delivered on people's expectations..The fact that he's gotten this far is a miracle to me.
In both Ohio and Tennesee, Santorum has witnessed his lead over Romney evaporate after Romney successfully defended his native Michigan, and defeated the former Pennsylvania senator in the state. Super Tuesday might not offer Romney an opportunity to deliver a knockout blow, but, at a minimum, he could put Santorum on the ropes by beating him in one or both states.
Team Romney believes that factors within the Republican Party are beginning to move in the former Massachusetts governor’s direction. Romney enjoyed his highest-ever level of support among Republicans compared to past NBC/WSJ polls, and the closing gap in some Super Tuesday states, especially in Ohio, suggests momentum.
“There is a feeling that we have had a vigorous debate about the direction we want to take as a party, and how we want to prosecute Obama on the No. 1 issue, which is the economy,” one Romney adviser said. “We are seeing a movement by many voters to consolidate all the different factions behind one candidate, that candidate being Romney.”
The GOP logic is that once the nomination fight has wrapped, the eventual nominee will be able to pivot toward President Barack Obama, and reverse the damage to the party’s brand. (Is that even possible?)
“Right now there's a media narrative that none of them are up for prime time,” said Jim McLaughlin, a Republican pollster who argued the prolonged primary has actually made Romney a sharper candidate. “The good news for Republicans is once we have a nominee, he'll be able to define himself.”
Whether the campaign will reach that inflection point tonight is a matter of campaign mechanics as much as raw votes and momentum.
Vander Plaats called Mitt Romney the “odds-on” favorite to win the nomination as long as Republican voters fail to rally — quickly — behind Rick Santorum as the lone alternative to Mitt Romney. He argued that Newt Gingrich should consider exiting the campaign after Tuesday night if the former House speaker fails to score any significant wins.
But the Gingrich campaign has worked intently on winning Georgia, which offers Tuesday’s largest kitty of delegates. And a Gingrich surrogate, Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston, argued that recent weeks of focus on Santorum’s social views have illustrated the risk in making the former senator the GOP’s nominee. Oh really?
Now you're saying that??
“We’re not 100 percent sure that Santorum has the right language. You have to be very delicate and diplomatic about the things you say,” he said. “I think there are some things that he has said along the way that weren’t vetted that would come back to haunt him.”
And as for Vander Plaats’s wish that Newt Gingrich drop out if he loses Georgia? “I think that he would probably look at that, but I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Kingston said.
If it’s the case that Mitt Romney wins tonight and none of his challengers exit the campaign, the race for the nomination may shift into a new stage with Mitt Romney in a more commanding position, all while fighting to keep his momentum going and bleeding his rivals of support and finances.
One pundit had this to say about Rick Santorum's future in the race..Comparing him to Bob Dole in his race against incumbant, Bill Clinton...this guy said- "There comes a point in time when it's too late. I remember Bob Dole and President Clinton. He never got rolling, if you will,” he said. “I would expect Santorum's money to dry up if he doesn't pull out a couple rabbits tomorrow … If he wins it goes on for a little bit, but I really don't see him capturing the hearts and minds of the average Republican voter.”
I really don't see any of these clowns posing the president a serious threat...but...stranger things have happened!

Rush Eats Crow!
Something about losing sponsers softens a man up! Something about losing sponsers to your nationally syndicated radio show suddenly makes you realize that saying unkind and untrue things about people can be bad for business..
After a media and political firestorm, Rush Limbaugh issued an apology on Saturday for calling student Sandra Fluke a "slut" on his radio show this week.
Sandra Fluke, a law student at Georgetown University who was advocating for health insurance plans to cover the cost of contraception, became the target of a series of attacks by Limbaugh. Besides calling her a "slut," he also called her a "prostitute," said that he wanted her to make sex tapes and post them online, and speculated that she only had a problem paying for contraception because she was having "so much sex."
Rush Limbaugh's outrageous comments caused advertisers to flee from his show, and even prompted President Obama to weigh in. The statements also became an issue in the Republican presidential race.
Rush Limbaugh — who has a long history of making incendiary remarks, and is not known to take them back — issued the rare apology (for him) on Saturday afternoon, saying he was "sincerely" sorry about his "insulting" characterization of Sandra Fluke.(Like I said...Loss of adverti$er dollars tends to do that!) But he maintained that the birth control debate was about "personal sexual recreational activities," not any broader health questions, and compared contraception to sneakers. He suffers from "Foot in the mouth " syndrome.
Even as he walked back on his comment, though, there were signs that poor Rush Limbaugh is not out of the woods yet. Another advertiser, Carbonite, posted a message on Facebook saying that it was ending its sponsorship of his show.
"No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady," CEO David Friend wrote. "Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show."
And at least one organization wasn't buying Rush Limbaugh's choice of words.
"Rush's apology wasn't actually an apology," said Shaunna Thomas, a co-founder of UltraViolet, an online advocacy organization that does grassroots work on women's issues. "He did little more than continue to expose himself as the anti-woman and offensive media personality that he is. Our campaign to pressure advertisers to drop their sponsorship of his show will continue next week. No radio show that attacks women should be rewarded with advertising dollars. And more than 84,000 of our members who signed a petition in the last day agree."
So Rush...How do you like your crow served???

Gotta Love Mary J. The first verse of this song is something I believe women have secretly said amongst themselves for years. This is why many brothers who have tried to do right by women have been so confused...

Goodbye and Good Riddance! (Andrew Breitbart)
1969-2012
I usually write these kinds of posts as tributes to people I admire who die...This is not one of these kinds of posts..Let me make that perfectly clear. There was nothing about this man that I admired. On March 1,2012, shortly after midnight.. Andrew Breitbart, Conservative Activist, Blogger and Tea Party champion collapsed outside near his Brentwood house and died...
For those who don't know who this man is...let me tell you...He is exactly what I am...A Blogger and an Activist...The simularities stop right there...He was a rethuglican in the worst way and a darling of the dim witted Tea Party people.
I know it's not good to speak ill of the dead and usually I do not, but before I am taken to task...Let me say that this man couldn't even wait until Senator Edward Kennedy was in the ground before he got on Twitter and called the late Senator, who served this country for over 40 years a "vile piece of excrement." He made cruel jokes about the man ,saying 'Rest in Chappaquidix"' I'm going to be a lot kinder to this prick in death than he was to many people in life.
You can disagree with people politically without making it personal and without using underhanded tricks to try and ruin someone's life . I have written my opinions in this blog for close to four years. I have never slandered anybody and I have never attempted to cause any of the targets of my vitriol any personal harm or displeasure...All things that Mr. Breitbart did during his short career.
He was a disgrace to Blogging and Social Networking. On July 19, 2010, Breitbart posted edited and doctored videos of United States Department of Agriculture official speaking at NAACP fundraising dinner in March 2010. Breibart"s videos showed Sherrod admitting a racial aversion to helping a white man.
The videos led to Sherry Sherrod's dismissal from government service on July 19. Following criticism for taking Sherrod's words out of context, Breitbart posted the complete 40-minute video of the speech. After viewing the entire video, the NAACP said that the Breitbart's editing was deliberately deceptive, by leaving out that Mrs. Sherrod said her reluctance to help a white man was wrong and unworthy of her.
The NCAAP said Breibart had "snookered" them and they were reversing their rebuke of Sherrod. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack later apologized to Mrs.Sherrod and offered her a new job.
In 2011, Sherry Sherrod sued Breitbart for defamation. In response to the resulting controversy, Breibart said he never intended to show Sherrod to be a racist. Instead, his target was the NCAAP and how the audience's reactions to the speech proved that NCAAP was racist.
Andrew Breitbart was also involved in the 2009 ACORN video controversy. Hannah Giles posed as a prostitute seeking assistance while James O'Keefe portrayed her boyfriend, and clandestinely videotaped meetings with ACORN staff. Subsequent criminal investigations by the Brooklyn District Attorney's office and the California Attorney General found the videos were once again heavily edited and doctored in an attempt to make ACORN's responses "appear more sinister", and contributed to the group's demise. Breitbart then provided a forum for O'Keefe on his BigGovernment.com blog and defended his actions on Sean Hannity's Fox News Channel program. ACORN subsequently lost it's government funding anyway.
On May 28, 2011,Andrew Breitbart posted a sexually explicit photo on his BigJournalism Web site of New York Representative Anthony Weiner obtained through Weiner's Twitter account. Anthony Weiner initially denied that he had sent a 21-year-old female college student the link to the photograph, but after questions developed, he admitted to inappropriate online relationships. On June 6, 2011, Andrew Breitbart reported other photos Weiner had sent, including one that was sexually graphic. On June 8, 2011, the sexually graphic photo was leaked after Breitbart participated in a radio interview with hosts Opie and Anthony, though Breitbart stated that the photo was published without his permission. Weiner subsequently resigned from his congressional seat on June 21, 2011.
Here are three examples of the type of mean spirited tactics this guy was famous for... A good friend of mine had this to say about his death yesterday and it sums up how I feel about it- " I know we aren't supposed to celebrate anyones death. However, in lieu of all the attempts to sully Whitney Houston's name, I will just say that the world is a better place and journalism took a step toward credibility again now that this asshole is gone... Forgive me.Lord, but Andrew Brietbart was a shit bag. Have mercy on his soul..... Or not." That's exactly how I feel about this man...
I will close with a quote from my fellow blogger, activist and Philadelphian- "The Field Negro" who said-
"Honestly, for all of you people whose lives were destroyed by this despicable prick, I would love to join you for long slow waltz on his grave."
And that just about says it all for me!
Have a great weekend!
