Was It Me Or...?

I don't know how many of you watched President Obama's news conference on TV last night but, he started off by explaining the plight of a small town in Indiana that was (in his words) losing jobs at a rapid pace. He said that the unemployment rate was high and that the people who still had jobs weren't spending any money, which was causing other businesses in the town to have to lay off workers. In essence, the town like most of America is hurting. He was trying to make a case for his stimulus plan and he was saying that we cannot afford to not do anything.

When it came time for questions and answers, this silly reporter gets up and asks him, "Mr. President, what is your take on A-Rod and the steroid scandal?" A-ROD??? A-ROD??? WHO CARES ABOUT A-ROD right now??? Are you serious, man??? Was it me or, if you saw that, were you as stunned as I was??? This is the President of the United States, giving an address about the economy, during what is being called the worst economic disaster since The Great Depression and you're asking him about A-ROD??? This isn't SportsCenter, man!!!

Okay, I'm calm now. I just had to let that out. What is it with reporters and stupid questions? Just like last year during the presidential debates... someone asked Obama why he didn't wear the U.S. flag tie clip or some foolishness. I think I blogged about that too. Do they think they're being cute or are they really that stupid?

Was it me or were you shaking your head too?

Okay, excuse the French, I mean English, but that was the most stupid fucking thing I've seen in a long time.

You would think that a journalist assigned to the White House would have more sense.

As you well know..I'm no Obama fan,but even I have to agree with you here for once that I thought the question had nothing to do with what they were talking about.

It's just the Cult of personality
Keith....The public veiws Obama like a Rock Star now and the ridiculousness hasn't even got started yet...Stay tuned.

It was a silly question...A couple of other reporters asked him a few things that were not pertinent to the conversation too..but they weren't as bad as the A-Rod question.

I saw it...I laughed my ass off at the reporter.

Barrack played it off nice, but he had to be thinkin-"What's up with dude?" to himself.

I thought it was just me. That wasn't the only question...one lady asked about Iran. Not saying that isn't an issue, BUT that was not what he was there to discuss. I love how he asked why would people NOT want to take action now. He asked what could be more important than saving jobs, creating jobs, helping people keep their homes, improving schools, health care, etc...and there they are with the silly questions. I feel like my 8 year old would have came up with better questions.

We dont have anything like it over here, you guys are blessed to have your leader come and talk to the people.

Now who is Arod?

Keith,
They're really that stupid! Imagine having the attention of the president and asking that kind of question. Also, yesterday Michelle Obama visited a social service agency in D.C. to meet her "new neighbors." The children present asked her if the president LIVED with her. She responded yes several times but it seemed the children did not believe a MAN could LIVE with a woman. Perhaps their experience has been that the man does not LIVE with the woman and these children could not understand that Barack LIVES with Michelle and his children as a family in the White House. Now that says a lot about the life experiences of those kids. Are there no long-term couples who are committed to each other in these children's lives? Is being part of a couple out of date, old-fashioned? Do single moms and "baby daddies" exemplify this community? Hmm...

@lol @Angel- 'A-Rod" is a Baseball
Player...The Highest paid Baseball player in the game right now...who has been accused of using performance enhancing drugs a few years ago. (He has since admitted to it.)

All I could do was say, "Wow! Really?"

I'm sure he was just trying to get any attention he could; shameless plug for unnecessary and negative attention.

I actually had my head down reading something when the reporter asked that question. My head shot up. I could have slapped him through the tv.

@ Arlene - I felt the hurt for all those children who are amazed that a man and woman can and do live together. It's a truly sad representation of the communities we live in and how carelessly people pro-create. I'm a single parent, but my daughter's father and I lived together for a while before parting ways, and he's since remarried as I did I (though now divorced), so at least she knows their are such things are real families and male/female relationships.

It's so heartbreaking, but I also hope it inspires these kids to seek a greater depth when they're of age to have a relationships and not settle for being a baby mama or baby daddy.

love to live; live to love!

You see thats the dumb mess right there that has people turned off from the news.

That dude's press pass needs to be snatched up.

People are struggling, and you want to ask about a damn sport player???!!!

Goodness gracious! I was em-barass-ed! WTH? No wonder the black press isn't taken seriously. To top it off, I wondered if Helen Thomas thought "let me show you how to do a press conference, sonny!".

We've got to do better!
