Switch, Then Bait
He read my post yesterday and realized that he could no longer be aligned with these out of touch individuals. (He'll never publicly admit to that but, in his mind, you know he's thinking it!)
Veteran Republican Senator Arlen Specter disclosed his plans yesterday to switch parties, bringing the Democrats closer to the 60-vote super majority they need to push President Obama's agenda through the Senate. At a news conference on Tuesday afternoon, Specter said... "This is a painful decision. I know that I'm disappointing a lot of my friends and colleagues. The disappointment runs in both directions."
Yeah, I'll bet it does. Did I mention that Arlen Specter is from my home state of Pennsylvania? I probably didn't. I also never mentioned that over the years, he has been the only Republican politician in this state that I've actually liked. I didn't mention it but, it's true. I respected Senator Specter even before he chose to do this. He has always been an independent thinker who voted his conscience and not just a knee-jerk politico who went with the party line... even when he knew in his heart that he didn't believe in what the party was selling. This is a quality that would be good for both Democrats and Republicans.
Senater Specter would give Democrats and their allies at least 59 senate seats. One vacancy remains from the state of Minnesota, where Democrat Al Franken holds a narrow lead in a race being disputed in courts. (Can you believe that five months after the election, they are still counting the votes in that race???)
American politics remains stranger than fiction!

Arlen Spector knows what's up..
Nobody wants to be on a sinking ship..He should have switched over a long time ago.
Good Call Keith...lolololol..I figured you'd jump right on this.
I love independent thinkers..That's why I read this
particular blog!-lololol.
Good For him, but I can't help but see some opportunism here..Just my opinion.
His switching over was so long overdue..He seemed to allign himself with so many of the Democratic positions that his "switch" was inevitable.
Good morning Keith, I really wish he did read what you wrote!
You are nuts Keith! ROFLMAO!!!! He read your post...lolololol.Yeah,he probably did!

Wow, you called that one.
Arlen Spector becomes a Democrat!!
I think he had to Keith..He had pissed the GOP off so much that they weren't going to support his bid for re-election in the fall.
Hillarious post just the same..Loved it!

Hey Keith....
well hate to say it but Im not into politics....I just go and vote..lol
Mwahahah this is awesome they are coming up at best embarrassed at worst wishy washy and trying to get voters, any voters by any means necessary!
Well cousin, I might get kicked off your blog, like that anonymous writer with the conservative leanings, but I must say that Arlen is no more than a political hack. He swings in the breeze. He wants to be a democrat now because the republican party no longer will accept his middle of the road views. If Arlen thought he could get votes here in PA as a republican then that's what he would be. Now our state has become more of a democrat's dream. We've got Fast Eddy Rendell at the helm and we did vote overwhelmingly for President Obama.
Remember Arlen started his political career as a democrat. He's the one who came up with the "magic bullet" theory in the Kennedy assassination investigation. When he was laughed at and couldn't get democrat's respect, he jumped ship and became a republican. Really look at his voting record. That record bears out the fact that Arlen's just as conservative as Newt Gingrich. Moderate - Hah! Arlen hides his conservative thinking and actions better than most pols. Perhaps it's his plastic surgery that masks the real person. Don't we need representatives who are steadfast and sure? I'll bet Arlen would be a libertarian if it increased the number of votes he'd get.
@Arlene- Really? He was a democrat before??? Well, I must say..I didn't know that. As long as I can remember, he's been a Republican. I'm going back to 1980,when he won his present Senate seat. He must have been a Dem ocrat
in the 60's...I really didn't know that this was his second go around
with the party.
Once again, great commentary my friend...you are on the mark!
I know ya put a bug in Arlie's ear, Keith...lol. I really need to pay closer attention to politics, I forgot he jumped ship in the first place.
