Poor Richard (Jefferson)
If the news doesn't stop getting so bizzarre, soon this is going to be a sports and relationship blog.
In the latest bit of foolishness, San Antonio Spurs Forward, Richard Jefferson, is said to have left his fiance at the alter over the weekend. Hopefully, he is sleeping somewhere separate and apart from her tonight (see my last post, "Love Kills") !
Spurs Forward Richard Jefferson is trying to set the record straight and explain why he left his fiance at the altar. Jefferson told the media that he ended the relationship with longtime girlfriend, Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols, because of constant fighting (that would be a good idea).
Jefferson also appeared on the Dan Patrick radio show. During that interview he said that he called off the wedding a week before, not hours before as first reported. Jefferson admitted, both on radio and in print, to giving Nichols a 6-figure settlement (that might spare him an ugly death). He also said that there are plenty of false rumors about the breakup by the tabloid media and he's tired of people ripping his decision to call off the wedding.
Jefferson said, "It really kind of **** me off a little bit that people would try and use this to destroy my name because they felt like I destroyed her name or ruined her life, well no. I did what is best for both of us, you know. (I don't think she thinks so.) But, no one is seeing it that way." He also said that a combination of things led to the split. "I've made my mistakes in this relationship, 100 percent. But, at the end of the day, there were some people who were responsible for the demise of it."
I sure hope he is right and he knows what he is doing. Right now, I'm scratching my head, like a whole lot of people. As I said a few paragraph's above (and, I reiterate)... Richard, go stay in a hotel, alone, with some friends (preferably, male friends), and by all means, avoid contact with your ex-fiance, her family, and her friends for the rest of the year!!! Please!!!

LOL! Though I know I shouldn't be. But you are right Keith. Maybe he figured it would be better to let her go now than to end up in a body bag later; though something tells me if not for the pay off, he might have ended up in one.
I'm so appalled at the way people are abusing love and giving it such a bad name. (Read my last post)
Love to live; live to love!
That was a trip. It's something else when you have to live out your life under the scrutiny of the public eye.
I am sure the big payoff came with a big stipulation to not say a word about what's really going on.
The timing may have been a little off but at least he realized he was making a mistake and ended things. A lot of people get married when they know they shouldn't and end up in nasty divorces.
I applaud him for realizing he was making a mistake. Divorce rate is extremely too high.
I don't see the problem. No one wants to get married and have a horrible time at it. Heck, and she made out with six figures - that's a down payment on a nice crib, a new ride and money for enough clothes to catch a new man. Chick will definitely get over it. I'm also sure he was paying for the wedding so her parents aren't out anything but maybe her dress and a few other minor expenses, plus he had his boy take the guests out, who didn't get the word until last minute, for a night on the town at his expense. If anything, dude is setting a precedent on how to end a relationship on a good note. Better to do it the week before than be at the altar hesitating.
Nobody should feel threatened or forced to get married under any circumstances. I applaud his courage.
If he called it off the way he said I don't see anything wrong with it. Heck if he called it off at the alter it's his choice. People go into marriage all willy nilly and shyt! Marriage is sacred and if he felt like she wasn't it for him so be it!
She did walk away with six figures....
Cant be mad at him. Maybe he realized that he wasn't ready.
He went about it the wrong way, tho. On the other hand, I can't be mad at him. A divorce would have given her half
I'd rather a man leave me before the wedding than after. He had guts in my opinion. A marriage is a promise and he was man enough to admit that he's not ready to make that promise at this time.
Love for a great weekend!

If he called it off a week before then why is it making all this news? And why would she show up at the hotel to get married? Somewhere in the two stories is the truth.
I found it hilarious that the media was reporting that he left his black card for his friends to party.
I agree Keith because people are so crazy these days RJ needs to becareful. I mean I'm still tight that RJ left the nets (lol) and sadden that he called off the wedding however its for the best. I hope things get better for him.
I'm laughing out loud at this...
but glad the brother decided to stop before he made what he thought would be a grave mistake.
I caan't believe I missed this yesterday.. Funny as hell ,yet true!
Keith, this is funny but closer to the truth than you might know.
He left his Black card so his friends could party....That saved him from a possible lynching!lololol.
Keith,you're a fool!-lololololbut I mean that in a good way!-:)
It's better he ended it now , than to get married and be caught in a messy and public divorce!
If he ended it weeks ago, then why wasn't everybody else informed?
Why were people waiting at the church or hall? I don't believe a word of what he said.
The timing may have been off, but he did the right thing in the long run. If he didn't think it was the right fit..better to get out now...rather than later.
I don't believe him...I think he panicked and did all of this at the
last moment and then tried to buy his way out of it...
Our people can sure get themselves into some mess, can't they?lolol
I guess I'll take his word for it..but it sure sounds a little fishy to me!
HIs ex fiance made out with six figures...He would have paid a whole lot more had they have gotten married and then divorced. He cut his losses.
I shouldn't be laughing at this story, but it just seems as though you are right Keith...The news is just getting downright wacky these past few days!
I'm with Sunflower,I don't believe him either!
I'll echo a few of your other readers comments here. The timing was terrible yes..but all in all,if he didn't feel right or sure about this marriage, he did the right thing by not going through with it.
I wish my S.O. and I had the option of getting married!
Talk about a buzzer beater.
Better late than never, although I dont see why he has to pay to get out of a failing relationship, unless she would have tried to sue him for emotional distres, a week before the wedding might have made that plausible.
Well it's better to make this decision now, than to suffer later. lmao at you though...re staying in hotel rooms with his male friends.
