Occupy The Polls

After seeing this ad on my Facebook homepage yesterday, I just couldn't resist this and couldn't resist the opportunity to use it as a teaching mechanism.

I've been saying this since I started this blog...Everybody has got to exercise their right to vote.  I think it is admirable that all of these people are out in the streets occupying Wall Street and protesting Banks, Big Business and Corporate Greed...But unless we turn these mass rallies into votes on election day...These protests will mean nothing.

We lost a civil rights icon (Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth) last week...One of several who risked their life and certainly their safety for the right of all American Citizens to vote...At a time when some people on the far right are doing everything they can do to limit our rights to vote with "Identification statutes " and what not...in the disguise of "fairness" ,We have to do everything we can do to make sure we are registered and that we are present on election day.

I actually read something, somebody Black said that I thought was pure insanity...This person said that he was going to exercise his right ''Not to vote" I hope nobody else takes this point of view. The Tea Party certainly doesn't...The people that support them certainly know the power of the vote...It's time we on the left and we who claim to be progressive  also learn the same thing.

It takes courage to vote, to believe in the future you don't see but know will come, and to expect things to change...

Voting is a responsibility because you have to act and also follow your convictions with actual actions... it is far easier to stand aside and rage... those emotions come easier and are more suitable for understand to those who are ruled by their emotions...

Excellent points! We must occupy the polls. Today is the last day for voter registration in Philadelphia and coincidentally election day in little Reidsville, NC. Voter suppression and intimidation will be on display for the rest of us to see. We've got to watch Wake County, NC too where there is an effort to resegregate schools. We will get a look at the GOP's plan for the 2012 presidential election. Remember Karl Rove plans a 1% reduction in Obama votes in NC to reverse the president's win in that state. "THEY" have a plan. "WE" have a plan too: Register and VOTE!!

P.S. I go over to City Hall each day to participate with the Occupy Philly. They shout, "This is what democracy looks like!" and they are right!!

That song make me wanna go vote, Keith!!!

LOL

Sometimes I feel my vote don't matter. BUT I go anyway, just because people died for our right to vote. My vote has an effect. It truly does.

get sick and tired of being tired!VOTE!!!!
