Like Cotton Candy

There's something funny about watching Mitt Romney...I've noticed it now and I saw it when I watched this first debate.. I saw it in film clips when I watched him debate the late Teddy Kennedy....He winds up after awhile saying and agreeing with all of his opponents points.

After watching one half hour of this debate...I wasn't sure if  President Obama was running against  Mitt Romney or a moderate Democrat..  That's just Mitt, that's why I call him Flipper...He sat up there last night and lied through his teeth anytime it suited him just to score points against the President.

Before I go any further let me say that Moderator Jim Lehrer was terrible...He lost control of both candidates,  letting them both run on and on past their time..Letting a visibly amped and hyper Mitt Romney interrupt  the President several times... Jim Lehrer couldn't control his bladder last night..Let alone the candidates. Hopefully , there will be a better moderator in the next debate.

A lot of people said that the President didn't look like he wanted to be there and that he just wasn't aggressive enough...I think that people watch too much reality television...I mean what did they expect him to do, cuss Mitt out...call him a liar?   Wellllll...I must admit...I did expect a lot more passion....The kind of passion I saw during the convention...I just didn't see it...Not from President Obama....I did , in all fairness see it in Mitt Romney...but that's just the thing...I saw passion and aggression (even rudeness at times ) on Mitt Romney's part....but no substance, no real plan and a lot of changing of positions that should have made his right wing base a little worried , if not downright angry.....And as much as I hate to agree with Rick Santorum, this is the problem you have with Mitt Romney....You never really know just who you're getting at any given minute.

Despite that, Mitt Romney didn't say one thing last night that would make me vote for him.  Not one thing...I waited..I waited for him to answer one question straight, to explain how he was going to do something...I just didn't hear it.  Mitt is like cotton candy...Looks Pretty, Tastes good, but has no nutrition, no real value...But that's just Mitt.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's tax cut proposals consumed the opening moments in his first debate versus President Barack Obama, as the two candidates sparred over whether the math behind the Republican presidential nominee's plans matched his rhetoric.

The President said Mitt Romney would cut taxes by $5 trillion, but hadn't accounted for how he would pay for them. For his part, Romney argued that President Obama would not live up to his promise to balance the budget, and argued tax hikes would devastate an anemic economy. The initial focus on pocketbook issues matches an election in which the economy has been the undisputed top issue for voters. Either candidate would be forced to contend almost immediately with these issues upon taking office in January, when a series of tax hikes and automatic spending cuts are set to spring into place.

"My number one principle is there will be no tax cut that adds to the deficit," Mitt Romney said  on the campus of the University of Denver. Mitt Romney asserted his tax plan would spur job creation and help balance the budget, but the president insisted that these proposals simply do not add up. "The fact is that if you are lowering the rates the way you described, governor, then it is not possible to come up with enough deductions and loopholes that only affect high-income individuals to avoid either raising the deficit or burdening the middle class," President Obama said. "It's math. It's arithmetic."

But neither math, arithmetic ,logic or facts will settle in peoples minds....We are used to reality television and sports analogies for serious issues and just about everything else..People are looking at Mitt's aggressive performance last night and declaring him the winner of the debate, despite the fact that he did a 360 on practically all of his stated positions and when he wasn't spinning around, he wasn't saying anything of substance..... It's that cotton candy thing again!

It's wayy after midnight...I'm tired...On to the next one!

Dear Mr. President:

You blew the debate last night and may have cost yourself and us the election and allowed the Republicans to take over this country. You allowed Mitt Romney to control the debate with bullying tactics without truly reacting. However the only way to control a bully is too punch him in the mouth and you didn't do that. This is not the time for your slow cool walks and your subdued demeanor. It is time to put up your fists and fight. We had such high expectations from you and you disappointed us. Romney lied, flip flopped his positions, and back tracked on everything he said in the past and you let him off the hook. You said nothing. When he was arguing with the moderator you said nothing. It looked like you let him punk you. Romney came to the debate ready for a street fight, ready to do or say anything to win this race. You on the other hand looked like you didn't care with your subdued tones. The majority of americans didn't care about what was said they were more concerned about demeanor and if you don't know Americans love aggression. When Romney lied you should have called him a liar. When Romney flip flopped you should have shut him down. But you did nothing like that. Romney was desperate, he acted desperate, and America loved it. The time for coolness is gone. It's hood time. It is time to bring it to the block because if you don't you are going to lose.

Oh...This was still a good post Keith!

Heyy Keith, Glad to see you're still bloging...It's been awhile good brother. I did not watch the debate. Why should I? There was no reason to watch a man who reboots himself or in other words changes his position every other month. There was no reason for me to watch a man who has been taped saying the wrong thing more times than the last 5 Presidents combined. Again why should I subject myself to listening to Mittens? I do not follow anyone blindly...but I just do not want to listen to Romney make things up as he goes.

It is clear Mitt Romney's strategy to win the White House is to keep changing what he says until he says something people like. Even if it is major change and goes against his personal beliefs. Forgive me....it is very difficult to tell what his personal beliefs are since he has changes his conversation on every major issue many times of the last few years.

Hey Keith,It just goes to show you how (insert word) Romney is in verbalizing his plan to improve our economic position in our country when he continues to preach policies with holes and it and picking a fight with Big Bird...dissapointed my President didn't go a little harder on that A$$ but he played the same debate game with McCain, letting him go hard, barking alot of nothing.....and who was victorious?....#obama2012

Mitt Romney lied for 90 minutes straight. I don't think I've ever seen that before. He was also nasty, hostile and insulting. The president knew EXACTLY what he was doing. First of all, he LET Romney lie all night .......on purpose! But all during, Obama was feverishly taking notes. He is going to use everything Romney said against him. WATCH. He set him up lovely, while remaining dignified and HONEST.

Im wondering ...if Mitt Romney says that businesses will bring jobs back if taxes get lowered even more... Then where are these businesses at to back his claim? The money the Koch brothers and Karl Roves Super PAC have spent on ad campaigns of lies, could have been used to actually make jobs. If Sheldon Addison can dedicate 400 million to go against Obama, imagine how many $50,000 a year jobs could have been created with that money....He's just a lying ass liar!

There was clearly favoritism shown here..Romney cut off the President numerous times & was allowed to do it. Romney shows he has no respect for the President..So do you think he will respect anyone else..

Lehrer was horrible...He couldn't control his bladder last night, let alone the candidates!

Zulu said...

I knew Lehrer was going to do that. He did the same thing to Kerry when he debated Bush. The notion that he's somehow impartial or middle of the road is hoooey. Remember in 2004 when he asked Bush "tell us how you're guided by your faith"....his faith in what? the devil? Bush had just attacked Iraq and killed 1 million innocent people...and he's asking him about his faith?. LEHRER PURPOSELY LET ROMNEY GO ON AND ON AND ON AND NEVER HAD A FOLLOW UP QUESTION TO HIS BLATANT CRAP!

Mitt Romneys entire campaign has been based on lies, and in all honesty his campaign seems to be a scientific experiment to see exactly how stupid the American public actually is. He has taken so many conflicting stances on things, that he doesnt need to debate Obama, he can actually debate himself since he has taken both sides on just about every issue.

Keith, you and some of your commenters share my take on the debate. Rmoney lied throughout and spewed his well practiced vitriol for the public. He did his "etch-a-sketch" on his own tax plan and claimed care for the "people." This morning, not last night, I'm glad our president didn't "get down and dirty" with Mitt. I like that professorial presentation. I'm a teacher too! And I think we learned more about the differences between these two men and what they plan for America. I stand with President Obama. FORWARD!!
