What I've Learned (The Year's Best)

1. Is there a difference between sex and love? Well, you aren't always sure as to whether or not you're in love but when you're having sex, you're pretty sure of it!

2. My mother instilled in me that an honest days work, regardless of what it is, is always better than feeling sorry for yourself and doing nothing. This is probably why I've seldom been without money in my pockets since I was about 23 years old.

3. My life has taught me never invest short and borrow long!

4. If you don't try, you can't fail. But if you don't try, you certainly won't win!

5. I heard a B.B. King song which said, "Nobody loves me but my mother and she could be jiving too!" which caused me to have one of my biggest and hardiest laughs. Talk about insecurity!

6. My grandmother used to say that "a man can wallow in dirt all night long, get up in the morning, put on a clean shirt, and still be called "Mister"... but a woman can 't do the same. Unfair? Yes, but true!

7. When I die, I hope I can feel the way I did the day I graduated from high school... "This was great, but now it's time to move on to the next thing."

8.The older you get, you find there are fewer people's advice that is actually relevant.

9. I'd prefer if people had no impression of me, because nine times out of ten, they've got me all wrong.

10. Adversity gives you two options... rollover and die or get up, brush yourself off, and keep it moving. I choose the latter.

11. Grandchildren teach you lessons you missed when you were raising their mother or father.

12. Don't worry about people laughing at you because you're a little different. Pity them, because they are all the same.

13. There is something you can learn from everybody... even an adversary!

14. Most people live as if they're never going to die and die as if they never lived.

15. You are basically born alone and you die just as alone too. People may be in the room for both events but in the end, just as the beginning, it's something that only you and you alone are experiencing at the moment!

16. I worked in a shoe store once selling shoes to women and one thing I learned... practically all women lie about their shoe size!

17. You can't be happy without ever being unhappy. How would you know the difference?

18. People who have money always say that it's not important. I've never heard a poor person say that money wasn't important!

19. I never learned anything when I was talking, only when I was listening!

20. A good marriage is loving someone in a lot of different circumstances.

21. If you're going to worry, then don't bother to pray. If you're going to pray, then don't worry!
